North Sound Rec League
Three North Puget Sound soccer clubs join with the WPL to form a new rec soccer League!
SEATTLE – Jan. 3, 2023 - The Washington Premier League is happy to announce the creation of the North Sound Rec League with three north Puget Sound clubs. The season is set for Fall 2023.
The new recreational soccer league will provide a better experience – from organization, scheduling and communication -- to improved competitions and education opportunities.
The league – sanctioned by US Club Soccer – is also significantly less costly than competing rec soccer organizations. The NSRL offers more services and programming – such as an emphasis on coaching education -- for less than half the cost of comparable leagues.
Clubs committed so far: Stanwood Camano Youth Soccer Club, Mukilteo Youth Soccer Club and the Everett Youth Soccer Club.
These clubs, and others, are looking for a new league that puts the spotlight on rec soccer players. The NSRL is open to clubs from North Seattle to Stanwood, from Whidbey Island and to Snohomish.
“We are excited to work with Everett, Mukilteo and Stanwood who want better service and programming,” said WPL Executive Director Stanley Holmes. “Other clubs are considering making the switch to a new vision. We want to refresh and reinvigorate rec soccer.
The WPL offers competitive and recreational programming for soccer clubs across the state of Washington. The WPL is the designated National Premier League (NPL) for the Northwest that offers clubs a pathway to a national club championship. The league hosts Washington Cup and College ID showcasing and coaching education events. Winners of WA Cup automatically advance to US Club’s National Cup finals.
“We couldn’t be more excited to be embarking on this partnership together. It is not every day; clubs have the opportunity to form a recreational league under a 21st century service model. This transition will allow member clubs to serve all the kids in their communities without archaic restrictions, so everyone can play local, high quality, affordable soccer,” said EYSC President Josh Baker.
The NSRL will organize and manage a full-service recreational soccer league for all ages. The season will begin in Sept. 2023 and teams will play 10 games. Each club that joins the new rec league is eligible to join the Competition Committee, which sets the rules between the lines.
The league is accepting applications for clubs to join. Click: www.wpl-soccer.com for more details.
"We are excited that North Sound Rec League is a new opportunity for our club to expand our high-quality programs while keeping costs down for our membership,” said Steven Bullock, President Mukilteo Youth Soccer Club.
"As a founding club within the North Sound Rec League, we are partnering with neighboring clubs to create the foundation of a forward-thinking recreational soccer league for our communities that provides high quality and affordable soccer for kids of all abilities to play," said Stanwood Camano President Mandy Bladek.
