Required Entry-Level Coaching Courses

All coaches must meet these minimum coaching standards to coach a team in the WPL

The League is hosting the opportunities for coaches without any approved coaching credential to receive their entry-level coaching diplomas, or to take the initial courses online through United Soccer Coaches.

Coaches managing teams in the WPL must meet these minimum coaching standards to coach in the Dev, Copa and Classic levels of play. This minimum coaching diploma requirement does not meet Super League Coaching Standards.

Coaches can start these initial courses immediately and by taking Foundations of Coaching and 4 v 4 online. SAVE a copy of your completion certificates for confirmation with league and your club.

The Level 1 course - four hours - will be required as a three-part progression in order to qualify for the United Soccer Coaches National Diploma - and beyond. More details to follow.

Holding the Level 1-3 course progression is becoming the minimum standard for coaches participating in the WPL. Coaches must hold a National Diploma, or equivalent, to coach in the NPL Super League.

The United Soccer Coaches Level 1 course progression is strongly urged for all coaches who have no, or minimum, coaching credentials.

For coaches without any credentials, they must complete the Foundations of Coaching and the 4 v 4 courses to comply with current league minimum coaching standards. Both courses can be taken online at anytime. Then, they must earn the Level 1 coaching course credential, Level 2, & Level 3 from United Soccer Coaches by Dec. 15, 2023.
